Join us in investigating this fantastic 12th century castle!
This defensive tower became the ancestral home of the Kirkpatricks in 1232, when the land was granted to Ivone de Kirkpatick by Alexander II, King of Scotland. It is the oldest continuously inhabited tower house in Scotland. Owned by the Kirkpatrick family for centuries, the estate was sold out of the family in 1783 by James Kirkpatrick to Reverend James Stuart-Menteth, until 1981, when Luis Kirkpatrick brought the Castle back to the family.
 
The Castle is 14 metres by 10 metres (46ft by 33ft) and rises 15 metres (52ft) to the top. At ground level, its walls are 3 metres (10ft) wide, tapering to a width 2 metres (6ft) at the top.
Will you see 'The lady in Black' or will you hear the groans of the prisoners in the dungeon?
During the investigation you will have the chance to use some of our most up to date equipment and take part in experiments to connect with the ghostly residents of Closeburn Castle .
